Godzilla and Kong meet in the same film. Classic Toho monsters including King Ghidorah, Mothra, and Rodan may also join the Legendary pantheon of giant monster mayhem going forward. We are expecting the release date to be Friday, March 13, 2020. This will be a Nationwide in theaters release.
The monsterverse wil be rocking up hard as Skull island’s Kong will come face to face with the God of Monsters. These two titanic behemoths will eb facing off in this epic crossover showdown comnig to theatres next year.
Release Date Announced
Kong vs. Godzilla was initially announced to have May 22, 2020 releaase but according to Universal they will get it moved earlier on March 13, 2020 so that it will not have a similar release date as Fast and Furious 9.
The Cast Revealed
Presumably taking place shortly after the events of King of the Monsters, Kyle Chandler and Millie Bobby Brown reprise their roles as Dr. Mark Russell and his daughter Madison, respectively. Zhang Ziyi also reprises her King of the Monsters role as Dr. Ilen Chen, a Monarch scientist who studies the kaiju alongside Dr. Russell. They are joined by a new, all-star cast consisting of Bryan Tyree Henry (Atlanta), Julian Dennison (Deadpool 2), Eiza Gonzalez (Baby Driver), Lance Reddick (John Wick), Rebecca Hall (Iron Man 3), Demian Bicher (The Hateful Eight) and Alexander Skarsgard (True Blood). While most of the new cast’s roles have yet to be revealed, Skarsgard will be playing a soldier caught in the titanic conflict.
The link between Skull Island with the King of the Monsters
This fight off has already been seeded every since the 2014 Godzilla reboot through Project Monarch, which is known as a top-secret internationl organization that has been studying kaiju activity around the world and this has assume that testings in 1950s. In the Kong universe, the organisation existed as Monarch which identified King Kong as the guardian titan of Skull Island

As a lifelong fan of these characters, I’ve always wanted to see the ultimate showdown, and today we’re pleased to be announcing that and more.” Shortly following Legendary’s pact with Universal Pictures, Legendary acquired rights to additional classic characters from Toho’s Godzilla universe, including Rodan, Mothra, and King Ghidorah. This paved the way for developing a franchise centered around Monarch and anchored by Godzilla, King Kong, and other famous creatures. Unknown at this time whether the stars of either Godzilla: King of the Monsters or Skull Island will be reprising their roles in Godzilla vs. Kong (Hollywood Reporter, 5/30/17). The Walking Dead star Danai Gurira is in talks to play one of the leads (Hollywood Reporter, 7/12/18).
